ReplyDeleteThat's it, she's an jedi like yoda... in 800 years, she'll be tiny and green. haha
ReplyDeleteThis is cool except for the fact that the Queen doesn't have term limits and doesn't have to be elected... Also, she has like 0 political power... Real cool.
ReplyDeleteErrrr......she's unelected..compare like for like and, in the same period we have our Prime Ministers..
ReplyDelete# Winston Churchill
# Anthony Eden
# Harold MacMillan
# Alec Douglas-Home
# Harold Wilson
# Edward Heath
# James Callaghan
# Margaret Thatcher
# John Major
# Tony Blair
# Gordon Brown
He's such a classy lady :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful woman. So poised and classy. And look how happy she is! Especially dancing with Gerald Ford.
ReplyDeleteeurope can laugh it up all they want, but just the presence of monarchy regime is a slap in the face to the poverty class
ReplyDeleteIll informed comments here and the writer of the article might not even know: the Queen of England actually has very limited power.
ReplyDeleteThe country is run as a parliamentary democracy with a Prime Minister (Gordon Brown at the moment) as the most powerful member. Formally, the Queen heads the parliament and her opinion does have an effect, but her actual power is very much limited.
This is similar to the situation in many monarchies in Europe, including the one I live in: the Netherlands. Queen Beatrix has been our Queen since 1980, but we've went through many cabinets in the meantime, headed by a premier (Prime Minister) as well, currently Jan Peter Balkenende.
In most cases, the opinion is that monarchies are likely to fall, or rather turn into republics under public pressure, if ever the monarch should exert too much power. The army, the police, all are under power of the government, which in most cases is composed of elected officials.
The role of the royal families has been reduced to a diplomatical and ceremonial one. Be it an influential one, but you have to see this in the context of the golden cage these people have to live in...
you'd think that with our advances in human rights and equality that royalty and its traditions (king and queen) would have filtered away by now.
ReplyDeletedo we still believe in the divine right of kings? or why do these people get to live so well while others suffer daily
The role of a royal family it to present an acceptable face of privilege and a class system. By associating the state with its most privileged class, spurious legitimacy is conferred on institutionalised inequality. The corrupt institutions of the british state will soon collapse, when Scotland takes independence and becomes a republic. Bye bye queen!
ReplyDeleteYou all need to stop being so condescending. I mean everybody. Its a cool idea for pictures, so just enjoy it for what it is. She was queen. They were presidents. That's cool.
ReplyDeleteChillax.
I don't see anywhere where the poster claimed the Queen was the most political power in the UK? People need to calm down a little and see this for what it is, little more than an interesting series of photographs that remind you how long Queen Elizabeth has reigned.
ReplyDeleteThose that forecast the decline of the monarchy need to do a little more research if they think it'll come to an end in the UK. It won't. It brings in far too much money for the tourist industry and its value to the commonwealth and trade has been proven time and time again - that's the reason it is still going strong. It isn't a political power, it is a historic, trading and tourism power that most countries would be glad to have. It brings much more than it costs anyone and a few people need to do some proper reading instead of guesswork.
Whilst a few of these comments are correct most are over-reactions to what is a nice photographic retrospective that was presented without political comment.
ReplyDeleteBritish government research shows that the phenomenal cost of keeping their royal family is more than made up for by the tourism revenue they generate so as the commenter above has so eloquently put it, Chillax!
'tis a shame there was no LBJ. Perhaps they never met?
are you stupid... we've had plenty of prime ministers. nO CAMPAIGN MONEY WAS EVER SPENT ON ROYALS. THERE NOT ELECTED
ReplyDeleteDon't kid yourselves about just how powerful this lady is. Her family, including the Duke of Westminster Vriyains richest man are founders of the New World order along with Rothschilds, Morgans. Prince phillip is the highest order of Freemasons.
ReplyDeleteThere is good reason why presidents vist her.
Now, while I am totally against any form of inherited wealth and power HRM Elizabeth has loads of pull. Good reason to stop handing it down to her fuck wit children.
Just as a little post script. "seeing it for what it is?"
ReplyDeleteBit elitist isn't it? See in it what you will. I don't see it just as a list of presidents the Queen has met.
Equality? Advances in human rights? Where are you living?
There is no equality and human rights is a misnomer.
Th epictures were put up for interpretation and that is just what we have done, interpreted!
Nice piece by the way.
a lot can be said about stability and long term relationships with the globe...
ReplyDeleteVery few people who ever live spend so much of their lives in true service to other people as has ER II. As you look at the pictures of our American presidents, how many of that crew have contributed as much as HRM?
ReplyDeleteEven Ike who was supremely important to the effort to defeat fascism did not sacrifice as much of himself as has Elizabeth for her people.
I was born to two salt of the earth folks from rural Pennsylvania, raised on the idea of "for the people, by the people". Having said this if you told me I had to choose between being governed by choices similar to those made for the past two decades by my brethren for President or submit to the absolute whim of Her Royal Majesty, I will choose Elizabeth every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.
God bless your gracious Queen.
wow and still she is better than of those men..ironic how a woman got to beat them with grace =)
ReplyDelete"Just think of all the campaign money saved in the UK!"
ReplyDeleteJust think of all the taxpayers' money wasted on those unelected layabouts!
@Jim
ReplyDeleteActually, if you do the maths, they pull in more money to the economy than we spend on them. Not just through their estates, but through tourism.
im sure she has done much more in her lifetime than most presidents have in their terms combined in terms of service to her people.
ReplyDeletebut what did she do to earn these rights and privileges?
cool pictures indeed
ReplyDeletejust a long line of 2 different kinds of evil
I think we all need to calm down and realize this was just an interesting post, showcasing the lovely Queen Elizabeth II and the political leaders of the United States throughout history. Why does everything have to be a politics battle? Can't it just be neat to see?
ReplyDeletean explosion would be neat to see too.
ReplyDeletepeople just need to think about what the queen really represents on a whole, not just to UK or USA.
God surely is saving The Queen!
ReplyDeleteMan...this lady is old, and seems to never die!
ReplyDeleteNotice: Only Obama is looking at the camera...more focused on himself maybe?
ReplyDeleteI'd still hit it.
ReplyDeleteShe's going to look great next to Sarah Palin in 2012!
ReplyDeleteOh god I hope not, I'd move planet of Palin got in
ReplyDeleteDon't need to calm down
ReplyDelete- Need to rise up.
This is the wrong universe
Gerald Ford looks like Frasier...
ReplyDelete"Just think of all the campaign money saved in the UK!"
ReplyDeletethe queen doesn't run the country, the prime minister does.. Queen's just a figurehead
The Queen as a gracious and graceful lady. Other public figures would do well to look to her as an example of how to behave.
ReplyDeletesorry? the queen is evil you say? how so? stop whining just because you weren't born into privilege and do something about it, like i don't know, get on with life and keep your misinformed opinions to yourself? and anyway how can HRH be evil? She didn't choose to be born into wealth did she? Think of it this way who is more "evil"? the Queen, someone who has their whole life mapped out for them? or those elected officials, who /choose/ to wield power over everyone else?
ReplyDeleteoh and @ The Baldchemist...you're an utter moron, until you link evidence of your accusations inot your posts piss off!
seems the presidents kept getting younger and younger as the queen got older
ReplyDeleteI am a Canadian, and she is my queen too.
ReplyDeleteI like the fact that She is one of the few people in power who knows all the machinations of politics around the world from the WW2 to the present day.
Also as a Canadian our Forces swear Allegiance to HM the Queen not to our some times stupid PM's.
Makes for a quiet more peaceful life.
God Save the Queen.
queen will continue with 12,13,14,15... :)
ReplyDeleteQueen is Gorgeous and beautiful lady. She will be seen with many more in coming years..
ReplyDeleteWell i had seen somewhere Queens Diamond Jewelry. She has an amazing collection of Diamonds with her.
ReplyDeleteIt’s nice to have both because at the time of the American Revolution there was a great deal of persecution going on.
ReplyDeleteEducation of the masses was introduced by Scottish Calvinists (and others) in the late 1500’s. The fact that the United States was largely settled by Calvinists is a testimony to the power of education. This education of the masses occurred in the face of a culture marked by drunkenness, addiction to sensuality, lack of self-control, and lack of education whose model reached its pinnacle in the example of the sons of George III (who was king during the American Revolution).
George III’s granddaughter, Queen Victoria’s reign marked a new era of moral responsibility in government which Queen Elizabeth II has tried very hard to model.
Queen Elizabeth’s mother, who was from Scotland, was hugely popular for providing a stable home for her husband and children, her bravery in the face of Hitler’s threats to kill them, and being able to relate to the common people who also had and have high moral standards.
The Queen whose titles include “Defender of Faith” has a distinct advantage over American culture whose persecution of believers is becoming more and more militant.
The fact that America now has the largest number of millionaires in the world directly correlates to its level of education. The “Shut-up-and-sit-down-because-you-are-too-stupid-to-think-for-yourself” Society tends to settle wherever the big bucks are found. This is why, more and more, America is returning to a state of slavery as its education and morals are neglected.
wow I think everyone took this the wrong way, this was not meant to be a debate or show which country is better, it was merely to show the differences in society today and the difference between countries. No where did it insult American culture yet everyone found the need to insult their culture. These comments are a perfect example of why our world is the way it is.
ReplyDeleteWOW! If that isn't a forced smile she plastered on in the picture with the pretender, Nobama, then I've never seen one.
ReplyDeleteShe didn't look too pleased with Slick Willy either. Interesting pattern.
Hey Hurryup2012,
ReplyDeleteWhy are you so excited for Obama to reelected in 2012?
This is a lovely pictorial history of an outstanding woman, who just happened to become a queen. Am an antique and remember when Elizabeth became QEII. Had a profound effect on me, but that is a different story. She has been through many major events in the history of her country and world. Thank you for putting this together to capture a classy woman's life.
ReplyDelete@Tom Donald, etc.:
ReplyDeleteWhile I see what you're trying to say, it's not as if similar countries without a monarchy are any better. It's one way of promoting classism but to have a country run by CEOs and bankers such as the USA, is exactly the same, if not worse because it does not seem at first glance that they are above the law.
She has long life journey and meet to all president. cool life as on date
ReplyDeleteshe fucked them all :)
ReplyDeletelook at the picture every president is smilling :)
From the title I thought you were gonna tell us which one of those presidents was gay.
ReplyDeleteOPEN YOUR EYES BEFORE YOU ARE CILLED
ReplyDelete13 families(very very rich)have the control of 70% of all multinationals,banks , news,official organisations,a lot of gouverments
they plane ALL ALL ALL ALL wars, crissis, africa AIDS and labo-made flu virussen several yaers before by ther "secret gouverment"
33 of the 44 US presidents was member of the freemasson "Scul-l and Bon-es or the Bilder-berg group,
bush AND obama also!thats the Truth
What can we do;only whit the Gandhi-principe:NO VIOLENCE PRay for our biggest enemies, ALL ALL TOGETHTER
tell it every day;tell it on the mountains
One more US president than Fidel Castro, that is impressive...
ReplyDeleteIf you add the age of the queen and the age of the president together the result is a constant.
ReplyDeleteToo all of you have claimed that the queen allbeit a figure head of our state is a slap in the face for poverty or should have been removed....
ReplyDeleteShe does more for tourism in this country than the damn politions and is a source of pride and respect from other nations and for ourselves.
I for one am glad we still have a Queen
It's estimable - the same bag with Nixon and Clinton.
ReplyDeleteAt least QEII has never been impeached, had to resign, started wars....think about it!
ReplyDeleteI'm no royalist, but does anyone in the USA really think that not having a monarch makes the slightest bit of difference to the poor?
ReplyDeleteHow many people go hungry in America every day, does anyone ranting about royalty even know?
Does it make any difference that there is no king or queen to the likes of the Bloombergs, Waltons, Ellisons and Buffets of the nation?
Get a grip people. Don't kid yourself that European monarchys are bad for the poor and the US system treats them right.
Lobbyists aren't elected.
ReplyDeleteWall St isn't elected.
That's who's running the USA, so don't think having no king or queen is a better system.
Most European monarchies are parliamentary anyway, the king or queen is just a diplomatic figure. It makes very little difference to the day to day running of the country. They're all run by crooks and liars.
Hey, look at that, she's carrying the same purse when she meets Nixon as she is when she meets Clinton.
ReplyDeleteFidel Castro has racked up his share as well.
ReplyDeleteit's a bit of a problem that many humans can't discuss structures, only the humans who perch on them. Assessing the qualities of Brenda (as she is known in the UK) as an individual is irrelevant. It's her position not her personality that's the problem.
ReplyDeleteFor me it's not "What kind of boss class is best, privilege or money?" but "how can political structures be empowered to tackle serious population-threatening issues?".
"Royalty" isn't the answer to any question I can think of....
"She's going to look great next to Sarah Palin in 2012!"
ReplyDeleteahahaha.. best joke I've read in a long, long time.
Wow, why the fuck are you guys arguing about this? Clearly the author just wanted to show how long the Queen's been around, and showing her with all the presidents that have been elected during her rein is quite clever.
ReplyDeleteWow... time seems to be on the side of these posters... I just spent about five min. of my life I'll never get back reading this stuff... now I remember why I don't read these comments...what was I thinking? God bless America and God save the queen... and for the rest of ya'... well I hope you find something to do!!!
ReplyDeleteI suppose the conspiracy theorists will say she's giving them their orders.
ReplyDeleteNice to see the queen with so many US presidents. God Bless. Happy to be British.
ReplyDeleteGreat Site. Was added to mybookmarks. Greetings From USA.
ReplyDeleteNice post. This post is different from what I read on most blog. And it have so many valuable things to learn. Thank you for your sharing!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures ………………… thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteFrom the title I thought you were gonna tell us which one of those presidents was gay.
ReplyDeleteHow do you people not get this "Think of all the campaign money saved" The queen isn't Politics, she's Royalty. She doesn't get voted in and out of parliament/white house. The closest comparison you would get is Barack/Cameron - Two leaders of the country.
ReplyDeleteTo be a good lenient being is to have a amiable of openness to the world, an gift to trusteeship undeterminable things beyond your own manage, that can front you to be shattered in very exceptional circumstances on which you were not to blame. That says something exceedingly important relating to the fettle of the honest life: that it is based on a corporation in the unpredictable and on a willingness to be exposed; it's based on being more like a plant than like a prize, something rather feeble, but whose extremely precise attractiveness is inseparable from that fragility.
ReplyDeleten every tom's time, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then blow up into enthusiasm at near an be faced with with another hominoid being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner transport
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing she can still walk upright. She has certainly had quite a few birthdays. :-)
ReplyDeleteBut I fully understand she doesn't want to leave the throne for her son. It would be better to let Diana's eldest son take over the reins directly. My 0.02$ anyway.
Hm... Elizabeth Queen II probably was pregnant or in the around the world trip...that's why she never met LBJ.
ReplyDeleteHe he. Very nice photos. We need to care about our Queen.
ReplyDeleteeurope can laugh it up all they want, but just the presence of monarchy regime is a slap in the face to the poverty class. lol.
ReplyDeleteWell the amount we make from tourism due to having a monarch pays for itself.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting post, surprizingly she has meet 11 US president, after all she is a Queen not a president who needs to be elect in every election :)
ReplyDeleteLes stwert, you r right man! She is carrying same purse when she meets Nixon and Clinton !
Thanks for sharing.
We must accept finite disappointment, but we must never lose infinite hope.
